The Open Playbook

How the work gets built. Written down, left open, yours to use.

No gatekeeping here. This is the method behind the sites, the samples and the pages around them. Take what fits your shop. Leave the rest.

BLOCK 01 · FOOT TRAFFIC

Getting people through the door

Eight moves. None of them cost money. Most just take patience.

01

Google Business Profile

  • Claim and verify it. Name, address and phone should match the sign out front, exactly.
  • Fill every field: categories, holiday hours, attributes like truck parking or outdoor seating, the menu or services.
  • Add real photos often. The storefront, the plates, the crew, the lot.
  • Post something weekly and answer the questions people leave.
02

Reviews

  • A QR code to your review page on tables, receipts and the register.
  • Ask when the customer is smiling. Teach the staff to ask too.
  • Answer every review, kind or rough, and do it fast.
  • Never buy or filter reviews. The platforms will catch it.
03

Local search

  • Same name, address and phone on Google, Apple Maps, Yelp, Facebook and local directories.
  • A fast, phone-first site with tap-to-call, hours and a map.
  • One page or section per service and town, like "Indian food Kingman AZ".
04

Short video

  • The food, the work, the daily special, a peek behind the counter.
  • Consistent beats polished. Tag the location and the town.
05

Neighbors

  • Swap flyers and coupons with nearby shops you don't compete with: truck stops, motels, gas stations, RV parks.
  • Try a shared punch card across a few of them.
06

A local deals page

  • One page of offers from several shops, plus an email or text list.
  • Sign people up only when they ask to be signed up.
07

Events

  • Theme nights, car and truck meetups, Route 66 days, game-day specials.
  • List them on Google, Facebook Events and the community boards.
08

The highway crowd

  • Put truck parking, late hours, quick takeout and your exit number up front.
  • Get on the free trucker apps and directories. A driver special helps.
  • Signs readable from the road, where local rules allow.

BLOCK 02 · THE BUILD

How the work stacks

One skill, used a few different ways. Each piece feeds the next.

i

The site

Built before the first conversation, from public info. The owner sees it running, then decides.

ii

The care

Hosting, updates, new hours, a fresh menu. Small work, done reliably, month after month.

iii

The reach

Profiles, review systems and the moves in Block 01, run for owners who would rather be cooking.

iv

The guides

Templates, checklists and pages like this one. Made once, useful for a long time.

v

The ledger

Tools worth keeping, listed in the Vault. Some of those links pay me, and every one is labeled.

vi

The long game

A slice of what comes in gets set aside and left alone. Boring on purpose.

BLOCK 03 · THE HUB

A directory that pays for itself

Start a free local hub, something like "Eats and Services off I-40, Kingman." Basic listings cost nothing. Shops that want the top spot or a place in the newsletter pay a small monthly fee.

The hub draws visitors. Some of those visitors own a shop and want a site. The featured spots keep the lights on.

BLOCK 04 · YOUR MOVE

Rather have it done for you?

A preview of your site might already exist. See the drafts, check pricing, or write to anonmav@outlook.com.

General strategy, not a promise of results. Check each platform's current rules. Nothing here is financial advice.
